We were told a couple of Canadians were coming in, someone who was previously with the Guess Who. I set up the session. They arrived, set up, got sounds, laid down two basic tracks, did percussion, guitar lead and lead and background vocal overdubs - all in about 5 hours.
We are listening to playback and Randy Bachman says "this sounds pretty good, I thought it was a throw away". That song was "Taking Care of Business". I thought it rocked.
Later we cut "Let It Roll". I'd thought Randy was one gifted guitar player and Fred was the ultimate rock voice. I sneaked in and mixed this before session, mixing the guitars very aggressively and giving Fred a bit of British vocal treatment. Wow. Total bootleg.
This is another one featuring Fred and Randy rocking out. Randy used to do about three lead guitar parts, sometimes through different amps. He'd then pick the parts later in mix down. I think this version has different guitar parts then the released mix. Again - totally bootleg.
